What to do before & after my cosmetic/medical micropigmentation appointment

Prior to your micro-pigmentation enhancement think about the look that you wish to achieve. As experts in the field of colour analysis and makeovers, we ensure that the correct colours and styles are chosen for you, however you are part of the decision-making process.

Micro-pigmentation enhancements normally require multiple applications, but many clients are happy with just one session and subtle results. To achieve the best results you may be required to return for a tune-up procedure between 4 and 12 weeks after the initial application., charged separately at £150/h.

Be prepared for the colour....

Do I need a Consultation?

What happens during a consultation?
Can I skip a consultation and book the treatment straight away?
Do I need one if I have had it done in the past?

In order to assess the client's skin condition and characteristics, and establish if there are any health conditions that are a contra-indication to the treatment of choice, the meeting in person is best. Even, and in particular, when a client had the treatment before with a different technician in the past.

Booking the procedure straight away is possible with a patch test carried out prior to the appointment day, and medical form/consent form returned for assessment. via e-mail.

Deposit of £150 will be required to book a 2h treatment time slot.

On the day we will begin with a consultation, talk about other beauty treatments that have to wait, discuss what is requested and what is achievable, the desired look, make a colour match test. A skill technician will identify the skin characteristics, that indicate some procedures might generate micro bruising and help the client make an informed choice.

Should the technician assess the client as not fit for the treatment on the day of the appointment £60 consultation fee will apply.

Should a client not turn up when full treatment booked, the full £150

deposit will be lost and a new booking will have to be made.

How to book online

It is absolutely essential for the clients to read T&C and Pre-treatment Advice before making a booking and payment. Once a booking request is answered, a payment will be required to ensure the chosen spot is allocated. Payment becomes a confirmation, that you have read and understand the Terms&Conditions, as well as Pre-treatment Advice.

An appointment can be booked by   texting 07547667275 and providing an e-mail address to receive the forms and a payment link. Once the payment is registered, a patch test with an instruction will be posted to the address provided by the client.

What is the application process
& how long are the sessions in semi-permanent make-up, cosmetic / medical tattoo?

On the day of your appointment please make sure that you arrive on time and that you know where to park your car . Also choose a parking place that allows you to extend your parking session beyond the 2-hours period if required. The first session of make-up applications might take anything between 2 to 3h including aftercare discussion. In other instances (scalp, Areola , scarring, the time might be extended even further)

Your session will begin with an application of a topical anaesthetic cream to reduce or exclude any discomfort during the treatment. Your technician will then proceed to draw a template so to give you an exact impression of the end result, and only after you are happy with the placement, shape, style and colour chosen, she will go on to implant the pigment into the upper shallow layer of the skin.

The second visit within 3months will allow to build up enough colour density , fine-tune the detail, like colour shade and this visit should take about an hour the complete.

Medical Tattoo procedures, Including Scalp take on average 2-4h each session and are charged separately.

Does Semi Permanent Make up application hurt? Does cosmetic/medical tattoo hurt?

At the beginning of the session a small percentage of the clients experience some degree of a discomfort. Most report the level comparable to the hair tweezing sensation. Some however find it painful. It is essential for the technician be experienced and technically skilled in order to adjust the techniques and minimise the pain. A topical anaesthetic will be used to numb the area prior to the process of pigment implantation. Please make sure you are well rested , have a good night sleep, do not consume any alcohol starting two days before, and do not take any painkillers as those might contribute to blood thinning and bleeding during the procedure. This in turn leads to the treated area generating excessive scabbing and/or not holding the pigment correctly.

What is the healing process like?

How long is the down time?

Will I have to take much time off work?

Will others notice I have had cosmetic                        tattoo treatment?

You might experience some swelling on your eyes or lips the following morning. Initially the area looks darker and on the day 3&4 after the session, might look like more pronounced make up. After 5-7 days the scab (if formed ) on the enhanced area will start lifting, and the colour will look much lighter. This stage is called ''PIGMENT GHOSTING'' as in many cases the area looks like as if the colour has not retained.

It takes further 3 to 6 weeks for the colour to re-surface, to stabilise and for the area become more uniform in colour. After the first session you might still observe some patchiness or an unevenly distributed colour. This is perfectly normal part of a healing process and a result of normal daily activities like sleeping or drinking. After the first part of the treatment is completed you return for a touch up session to fine tune the colour and carry out any adjustments if required. This session should only take an hour, and a final result should be achieved after further 4-6 weeks.

As far as the male scalp patten boldness camouflage procedure is concerned, this type of treatment involves implanting individual dots of pigment into the scalp, there is hardly any blood or trauma (bruising) occurring during the treatment, with a minimal healing and the need of aftercare. There might be some scabbing formed in case of female thinning hair scalp camouflage, or male scalp with long hair clients, where the techniques employed differ. This however depends on the factors that will be identified and discussed in the consultation appointment, which in turn will help the client prepare accordingly and accommodate for the possible risks.

In case of the scar camouflage, a skilled technician will be able to detect if the skin is prone to bruising and inform of all precautions and lifestyle adjustments needed to minimise the risks.

Healed results differ from person to person, as skin characteristics, among many other factors, including the after care adherence, determine the colour retention style.

Pigments and equipment

Are the pigments the same as    the ones used in a regular Tatoo?
Is the equipment the same as a tattoo artists use?

What pigments are used in make up, scars or a scalp procedure?

The pigments that we use in our treatments are manufactured in Italy since 1987 by a company that is the world's leading brand in semi-permanent makeup pigments. They differ dramatically from the pigments used in regular tattooing, starting with the particle size and properties, and most of all the content of ingredients (chemical composition). Their products  are considered one of the best quality available on the market. Thoroughly tested and certified as hypoallergenic, these pigments are used successfully on clients that suffer severe allergic reactions to cosmetics, like eye shadows or mascara. They are also an excellent solution for those who suffer any chemical sensitivities or those triggered by environmental allergens. These inks, specifically designed to be used in cosmetic & medical ( scalp, scars, areola) micropigmentation

industry, offer a very wide range of tones, hues and colours that can be mixed or diluted so to match the skin coloration and clients requirements. Scalp and scar camouflage pigments are more opaque, therefore designed to last a bit longer comparing to the make up inks.

Some of the devices used by tattooist are recently adapted for work in micro pigmentation, but should only be used by experienced technicians for the technical specifications are dramatically different to those used in micro-pigmentation and with such a wide range of needle cartridge configurations, only a very skilled technician would know how to adjust the device to this type of work.

I myself have undergone 2 year training in full body tattoo art as well as cosmetic and medical micropigmentation training, and work with both types of equipment.

This equipment and single use safety cartridge needles used for the application, are the state of the art, high end quality. Both the high precision electronic devices were produced in Germany, are genuine, and have all the paperwork available for viewing.

Will the final result be very strong?

Will the enhancement last as long as a regular tattoo would?

What is the difference between the semi-permanent make-up, scalp cosmetic tattoo, cosmetic & medical tattoo and a regular tattoo

Although the semi-permanent cosmetic and medical micro pigmentation industry promises 2-3 years of retention in case of make-up and 4-5 years for medical / scalp micropigmentation on average, it is absolutely impossible to specify how long the colour will be retained for. Whilst working on the largest organ of the body with characteristics differing from person to person, subject to continuous changes in response to variety of factors,  the retention period can last anything from 1 to 4 years. Beside the skin general characteristics, medical history, age, hormonal changes, stress levels, alcohol intake, beauty treatments, there are fundamental differences coming from the treatment type (make up vs medical or scalp camouflage), colour range (with lighter colours prone to fade sooner), as well as the styles, where a mist of colour in certain parts (like by Ombre Brows) will fade much sooner, whilst the dark block of colour part still remains. Colour applied on top of the old enhancements, that were implanted too deep, often won't hold the pigment for any longer than 4 to 6 months due to the internal scarring. The technician's level of experience and skill, the command of the tools, the quality of pigments and the device, all play a role and impact the retention style.

One very important factor in regard to retention is that there is a striking difference in between a tattoo and a semi-permanent cosmetic or medical micro pigmentation. The latter is not designed to last forever, as by the nature of the treatments, should not be applied as deep as a tattoo ink would normally be deposited. The pigments/inks differ by the particle size and properties, hence although some subtle residue of colour might remain in the skin indefinitely, when applied by a skilled technician should ideally fade with time leaving the skin tissue healthy and can be colour boosted from time to time to maintain a fresh look..
